Phantom Job Seeker Nails USHA Advisors Job Seeker Scam

Just because their email says they found you on CareerBuilder doesn't mean that they did, nor does it mean that they have a job.  CareerBuilder, Monster, and all the other paid job boards provide eCommerce options for anyone to buy resume access with a credit card.  They have systems to notify them of unusual activity (e.g., fraud), but often rely on complaints they receive from job seekers.

That said, many gray-area companies come to the big boards with $xxx,000's of dollars to buy access, and it's hard for them to say no, even if they do get complaints, and even if their jobs aren't kosher.

I got this email today from Pat Bessette (pat.bessette@ushaadvisors.com) of USHA Advisors:

The Clues It's Not a Real Job:

1. It doesn't mention what you'd be selling.

2. It doesn't mention where the job is located or details about the job.

3. The requirements don't mention being able to sell anything.

4. If you do a search on the email pat.bessett@ushadvisors.com you find a very similar scheme.  Check it out here.

5. The Stevie Awards don't mention USHAdvisors on their site, and the award is a paid entry, meaning that it's probably for businesses seeking self-promotion.

6. Do a search on "USHAdvisors Scam" and you'll find this article:

Nine months later these people are still bothering me even though all I do is ignore their invitations.

Can’t they take a hint?

Apparently not - because the messages are coming in faster now, so it’s time to start BOUNCING them.

Can anyone realize the talent being wasted on bogus schemes like this?  We all just want to work !!

Thank you for posting this! :-)

Rich

HEY ME TOO!  They market supplemental coverage that is similiar to AFLAC in  a package which with the ObamaCare coming online is being gobbled  up by the blue collar workers fast.

Me too!!  I googled the company and this came up!  I agree with Rich!!  Jeeez what a waste!

Patrick,

Thank you for such a passionate reply. I'm happy you are happy with Ushadvisors. I'm sorry that you have to work for an organization with a history of harassing job seekers with false hopes and harassment. I think the tone of your message proves my point. A great organization would have pointed me to examples of excellence, not berated me.

How do you respond to all the negative emails from the others who have also been misled by your alleged organization? Share the percentage of people hired and any better business Bureau links you think would be helpful.

I hope you are able to be helpful to others and less angry.

Sincerely,

Sheila

Patrick,

Your professionalism is truly overwhelming.  I, too, questioned the nearly instantaneous, boilerplate response to my application posting on Careerbuilder.  While I was researching the company, I came across this thread as the second hit on Google.  It seems many others understandably share similar concerns.  Whether USHA's email response was legitimate or not, I learned all I needed to know from your inexplicably defensive response to Sheila.    Instead of handling a legitimate concern properly and professionally, you've tarnished your reputation and the reputation of your company by writing a petty response in the tone of an overly sensitive teenager.  You baselessly call Sheila out for not doing her research on the company.  Well, let me tell you that anyone who does their research - essentially anyone who would not mindlessly agree to a suspicious interview request without looking into the company - will now stumble across this thread to determine whether their skepticism is founded.  I don't imagine your response - coming from a division leader no less - will go over well with any reasonable, educated person.  Maybe I should be thanking you for giving me the information I needed.

I have only worked for US Health Advisors for 2 1/2 months but in that time with training and the holidays thrown into the mix I have still managed to make $4,000. Not bad for a rookie. Before Oct. 2014 I never wrote one policy. This is only the 6th of Jan and as of right now I have submitted $15,000 in new business, and I should get a $2000 payday next week. I have 4 set for tomorrow which I shouldn't have any problem selling. My first year goal is $100,000. I think that is attainable. My field manager has been making over $10,000 per month. So those of you saying this is not a real job, well I don't know what to tell you. I feel good and I sleep well at night knowing I am protecting my customers. Oh by the way, before I did this job I drove a Schwans truck. Buddy that is some hard work there. If any of you are looking for a job at Schwans I know where there are a lot of openings if you like to work 14 hour days and come home with a $300 paycheck every week.

Terry- Good for you!  Keep that passion and you will be fine. It sounds like you have a great manager. Best of Luck in your new career.

Terry,

Welcome to BetterJobsFaster.  I'm wondering how you came to find the site and post your response.  I'm just curious because you joined 16 hours ago and the only post you made was about this job.  I see that you were a former BM 2 and would love to hear what led you to Better Jobs Faster.  It seems suspicious that with your job you'd find the site and post.

Glassdoor is an excellent source of employee reviews of companies.  Keep in mind that it tries to filter out bogus postings, but there are some there.  You can see the full review of USHA Advisors at http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/US-Health-Advisors-Reviews-E594268_P2.htm

With the salary you indicated, so far you're making $10.67/hour in the 2 1/2 months since starting there.  That's below minimum wage for San Francisco and Chicago.  I'd love you to stay engaged and give us an update as your career progresses.

I'm also wondering what other expenses you have that traditional employment might not have.  Given all the negative reports on USHA Advisors, I still recommend that job seekers not consider them for employment.

Sure Dan, While training I constantly found myself having to address issues that people were reading on line so occasionally I do a search to see what new issue I will have to address. I hate being blindsided by something. So I found this just by doing a search on US Health Advisors. I also try to keep up on my competitors so I have something to compare to. If I'm going to be a professional about my business I need to know what people think about my business and why they think what they do. If all that makes since? I don't know where you went to see that I was a BM2 because that was a lifetime ago. I don't recall putting that on any of my on line info. Since that time I was an STG2 in the 80s and 90s. As far as this job being minimum wage, you are assuming I'm putting in a 40 hour work week. Believe me I am not putting in anywhere near that. Some days I just work around the house. This job allows me that luxury. My wife is the real bread winner so I do a lot of work around the house. Every week I get sent leads and these are fresh leads where people call and want to be seen. I usually get at least 6 to 8 A leads and as many B leads as I want. There is no cost to me for these leads. I pick out a day usually a Friday after our weekly training and make calls to these leads and set as many as I can for the following week. During the last two weeks of the year I really never tried to sell because everyone was putting me off until after the first. During those two weeks I did have a few people call me back from the previous weeks. I sold three in those two weeks. The four that I had set for today, I did manage to sell two and one had to be rescheduled. The product that we offer, to me the best health insurance policy ever designed. And Small Business Owners, and other individuals can now get affordable health coverage and feel good about what they have bought. It is different than any other plan on the market. It has taken me two months to fully understand how it works. But now that I fully understand it's components and how they work together, it takes me about an hour to get people to understand the basics so they can except it over a major medical plan. But when I finish my last sentence in my presentation, most people are on their way to get their checkbook. I'm not about high pressure sales either, so I'm glad this product is so easy to sell. Our company is not about numbers. We are about helping the customer and doing what's right for the customer. And yes, I have only been with this company for 2 1/2 months.

I received this offer recently from Monster.

I am not new to job searching, nor is this the first time I have been contacted for something completely outside my discipline, education or experience simply because I updated my information.

Since I am not seeking a sales position and do not intend to change careers, I am assuming this was an auto-response generated by a bot. This one, like all those others, is marked for the spam barrel - and NOT getting a personal response.

P.S. Congratulations to the posters who are happy to be working for this company.  The only good thing it did was allow me to find this site.  So, thank you for that, USHA.

I came across this after receiving a similar email and researching USHA.  Thanks for the insight into the company and its culture.

Hi I have received the same email and this is the reply I got from them including James Blumberg telling me that I am dead to him in a very aggressive email, not a good company I would stay clear just look at the reviews. Here is the email I received after I told them I wanted nothing to do with their company

It appears Mr. Blumberg needs as much help with his grammar as he does his people skills. It's "you're dead to me" not "your dead to me".

Hi Dan, I just thought I would update you on where I stand with my career at US Health Advisors. As you know I just started with the company in Oct. of last year. It was a bumpy start to a new career getting past the learning curve. However, we are now finishing up the first quarter this year and I just went over $100,000 in AV. My paychecks are are coming every week now and I'm averaging around $2000 a week. This week was a really good week and it will be $3,000. Now to those of you who say this isn't a real job, I don't know what to tell you. I sure don't know where else I can make that kind of money. I have read the posts regarding unsolicited emails from CareerBuilder. I can't answer to that, as I went looking for a job in health insurance sales outside of Obamacare. This company is growing by the week and I can understand why they might look for new agents in that manner. You have to look under every rock or you might miss a diamond in the rough. This job is not for everyone. You have to like sales and you have to believe in what you sell. You have to be disciplined enough to drag your butt out of bed in the morning and do what it takes to build your business. Just like owning a Subway restaurant, you have to be willing to market that business to drive customers to your door. Yes it takes work but so does looking for a job. In less than 6 months I can actually see my work paying off and starting to snowball. There are so many people out there screaming for an answer to Obamacare and that's what I provide for them. If you look at all the complaints on line about US Health Advisors, just about every complaint come from a disgruntled agent or someone who answered an ad and it wasn't quit what they were looking for in a job. You will find very few of our millions of customers writing bad reviews on line. Why? Because the products are phenomenal. Take a look at the customer complaints of Blue Cross and Blue Shield and you will find page after page. I am 57 years old and from the time I was in my 20s I looked for my niche. I tried get rich quick schemes, joining MLMs more than once. I'm am fast approaching 65 and had nothing to show for my work until now. I already see more seasoned agents making $6,000 to $10,000 per week. Our company share price started at like 32 cents 5 years ago. We just went over $1.04. The word is that once we go over the $2 mark, we will go public and that's when this company will really take off. At our present growth I can see this happening with a year or 2 at most. Those of us who are on board now could possible become millionaires or at least have enough money to retire in comfort. Anyone who reads this, this is my advice to you. If you like sales and if you like the idea of making lots of money and still have the time to do things that you like to do. If you like the idea of actually building a business with a company that supports you like no other, come check us out. Attend the three day training sessions. It will motivate you, it will inspire you, it will put the American Dream back in your grasp. I live in Arkansas and I'm a real person. I will talk to anyone on the phone or email if you want, just reply to this post and we can exchange contact information. This not a MLM, just so you know. This is a real opportunity.

Terry,

Thank you for your lengthy email.  I understand you're angry about all Americans not having universal health coverage.  That's a huge mistake when every other industrialized nation offers it.  However, this is not a forum for health care - it's about real jobs.  I looked at your Facebook page and understand that you are a true entrepreneur with US Health Advisors.  There is money to be made many places.  However, their pretense of offering real jobs via job boards versus as a franchise opportunity (See Forbes article: The Best and Worst Franchises to Buy) create a false-promise for job seekers.

Thank you again for your contributions, and I wish you all the best with your business.  Others who have had experience with US Health Advisors, please share your experiences.
