This came from the Acton Networkers Group.  Thought you might find it interesting:

Anyone ever use HireAspirations career counselors?

What do you think of them?

They contacted me saying they had a contract they wanted to talk to me about and I made an appointment thinking it was a contract position - it wasn't because when I looked at their web site it detailed them as career counseling.   They have some kind of fee so money is tight and I want to make sure I'm not losing my money.

I just wondered if this was a scam or what people's experience has been.

They originally were recruiters. Now, in these tough times, they have taken to selling career coaching / job-seeker-coaching services under the guise of being recruiters. In my case, I had interacted with them before this change. You can imagine my annoyance when they started spamming me with emails advertising their for-fee "seminars".

I asked them twice to remove my name (which they had gotten off of Monster) from their mailinglist. The first time was part of a conversation with one of their recruiters. The recruiter said she would take care of it but I kept on getting spammed by them. The next time I followed the instructions at the bottom of their email. This resulted in my being contacted directly by the person who runs the company, Paul Matthews. The email, in part, said

"We have removed your resume from the list of individuals to whom we feel our services could offer value.

Please know that our services are meant to help individuals with their career path and in securing jobs that bring fulfillment today and in the future. Our rewards come only when clients receive value.

Please accept our apologies for any frustration we may have caused. That is never our intent.

Feel free to invite me to your Linked In network under separate cover. I hope you will consider joining our network by clicking on the hyperlink below to view my profile."

That statement about their rewards coming only when their clients receive value is soooo over the top. (Is there a money-back guarantee? A pay only if you think the seminar was worth it policy?) Why does a recruiter want to link to you? So they can get access to your network. They already know how to find you if they have a position that fits *you*. Paul Matthew's email to me was so obviously insincere, I feel it should be shared here. I, for one, would not deal with them at all unless they contacted me about a JOB.
