I wanted to share some good news with everyone.  On Friday I accepted an
offer from Charles Stark Draper Labs in Cambridge as a Senior QA
engineer.  This has been a 14 month search with many let downs.

 

I'm sending this to let you know how this came together.  As part of my
usual job search I was going through www.indeed.com under engineering
positions and came across this opening.  I applied through the CSDL
website and 2 days later received a phone call.  As much as it was
informational, it was a preliminary phone screening.  I did well and
advanced to the next round.  As part of the process I was required to
deliver a technical presentation (30-45 minutes) along with the
application.   By now I had twice come down to the final two candidates
and both times I did not get the position so for this position I went
all out.  I made sure none of my earlier interviewing interviewing
mistakes came up (I admit it, I made more than one dumb mistake and
could kick myself)Not only was I totally 100% professional but I also
used my business relationships and contacts with CSDL in the past to
promote myself.  I received the offer on Friday.

 

Like many of you I've been discouraged with the market and I truly feel
unless you are in this situation you can't possibly understand.  I
have as much in common with this group as I have had with previous
employers and would help out anyone.  I can't begin to thank Gil
Krispian (Hopkinton ANG) and his team for all the help he has done in
launching the Hopkinton support group.  I credit the interviewing
workshops, toastmaster's invitation, and resume writing workshops
for this success.
