Dora Jean Brown lands at New England Rehab!

To the Networkers



I wanted to thank everyone for their help and support throughout my job

search. Jan 4th I will be starting at New England Rehab Hospital in Woburn

MA as their Clinical Educator. As I stated at the Acton Network meeting,

looking for your next job is having a job that you hate. Networking gave me

options to consider, ways to self evaluate and reevaluate what I was doing,

the encouragement to keep going, got me out of the house, talking with

other, helped me feel not so alone.



Questions that were frequently asked of person who had landed:



1. Yes, I did take a small pay cut: But this job is a transition for

me toward more community or "well" health, it will provide and opportunity

be involved with implementation of another Electronic Medical record and

more involvement in medical devices. These are all steps in the direction

that I had identified early in my job hunting, so it is a good fit.



2. What did I do to get the job? Everything, rewrote my resume,

networked, told everyone I knew I was out of a job and what I wanted,

identified my passions, identified jobs I wanted to avoid. I joined Linked

In, Facebook, had business cards. Used the career centers, volunteering,

Monster, the public job sources, and headhunters. I focused on particular

jobs and particular companies. I did everything. I am not sure what worked

the best or what to avoid. But I did work 30 to 35 hours a week on the

process for the 5 months I was out.



3. How did the interviews go? I did get there early did relaxation

exercises and then told myself that I needed to be myself because in the end

I wanted them to hire me. My skills, education and experience were already a

known from my resume, and cover letters. Yes there were questions about my

experience and what I was bring to the job but it was "me" that I had to

sell at the interview and I wanted it to be a good fit.



So I am hoping you all the best for the New Year, keep your head up and get

rid of this job you hate.
