Francoise Hembert lands contract position with Healthways!
Hello all,
It's with great pleasure that I'm letting you know that I landed a 6 to 9
contract position as Senior Technical Writer with Healthways in Westboro.
First workday is next week Tuesday.
A recruiter from Aardvark called me after finding my resume on Dice. He
landed the contract with Healthways through networking (!) after running
into a former co-worker who was now employed at Healthways. They were
expecting a very large contract with a new customer and needed a pair of
extra technical writing hands on board asap. Of particular interest were my
language skills and, after an initial phone screening, an appointment was
set for an interview with Healthways.
I thoroughly explored Healthways'
website and was able to get a decent understanding of their products and
services. I was able to "show off" my research by briefly outlining my
understanding to the interviewers and have them confirm or further explain
points that were not quite accurate. This served as the launch pad for
keeping a natural tone and flow of conversation during the interview with
the hiring manager, the engineering director, and a technical writer on loan
from the headquarters located in Nashville, TN.
At the end, I clearly stated my interest in the position. A week later I
learned I was at the top of 3 writers Healthways had selected, and
eventually I landed the job.
A few more weeks passed to allow for Healthways and Aardvark to work out
some contract agreements before a date could be set for me signing the
paperwork.
I'd like to express my gratitude to all of you for the moral support and
information sharing throughout these past 7 months. These get togethers
provided me not only with an opportunity to meet people in the same
predicament, but to learn from one another, and to share information. I've
also enjoyed the opportunity to facilitate a few of the meetings !! I also
wish you all the best in your search for a landing. I'm only an email or
phone call away J and never hesitate to contact me if you think I can be of
help.
On the one hand, I'm going to miss coming to the ACC, but on the other hand,
I have to admit to be thrilled to getting some income on a regular basis J

Several of you have asked me questions regarding my new landing and here are
the answers:
About the recruiter: the company is Aardvark Systems and Programming; my
contact is Dmitry Simankov.
http://www.aardvark
They mostly serve the financial and healthcare industry.
Dmitry has been very professional, keeping me in the loop of the progress,
without me always having to take the initiative. I highly recommend him.
About my language skills: of particular interest was my knowledge of French
which would come in handy for the company I'll be working to serve a
customer with strong connections to Quebec
Need for medical vocabulary: I don't have any and made it clear up front
during the interview that this was not something I brought to the table.
Lucky me that the part of the product/service I'll be documenting is about
installing and configuring software for call centers, and for that part, no
medical knowledge is required (dixit Healthways). If there's any medical
terminology that pops up here and there, it should be easy enough to pick
it up as the job progresses.
