Michael Fairbank: Landed at BME Gateway

My temp/survival job has become a direct "permanent" position.



I am working for BME Gateway, an independent medical exam company, as a
medical records clerk with very good advancement potential.  I first
came here by responding to a lead on the AN lisserv for some temporary
data entry work.  That was back in October, in December they asked me
to come back to cover an employee's month long vacation and I've been
here ever since.  Over the months I've learned their business and
procedures and have worked in a variety of roles.  In this role I
expect to help the move to more electronic handling of medical records
to significantly reduce the $500,000 spent on printing, shipping and
shredding paper.



I think the most important thing to remember about survival jobs,
volunteering or supplemental employment is always be professional and
work to the best of your ability.  Anything can be an opportunity to
show of your skill and talent and you never who you'll meet or whose
eye you'll catch.
