I am happy and relieved to announce that I have landed. I just accepted a position as CFO for Fitness EM located in Sutton, MA. I found the position on CareerBuilders.com and the process went pretty quickly. There were approx 150 applicants of which 12 were selected for a phone interview with the CEO. 8 were invited for a face to face interview with the General Manager and CEO. 3 were invited back to meet with senior management and their direct reports. An offer was made, I countered and we agreed to a final compensation package within a day. The overall process from application to acceptance of the offer took about 5 weeks. 

By the way I have been out of work for about 10 months and have spent all of this time focused on getting back to work. If I had to guess I spent about 40 hours a week requesting meetings, chasing various job leads, attending meetings, going to workshops, connecting with recruiters. researching companies, and networking. 

Although I found this opportunity on the Internet, this is just a small segment of my overall plan to network in group and one on one settings, register with recruiters, create search agents on various web sites, along with using the available resources (job newsletters, alumni databases, training, and networking groups) at the colleges I graduated from. (Bentley & Bryant University) I also made it a point to continually review and revise my resume on a regular basis based on feedback from seminars or even friends who reviewed it. 

If the membership is not covering all these areas then I encourage them to do so. 

Unfortunately I will not be able to make my last meeting and bring donuts for everyone. I am available by email if I can be of any help. 

It was a pleasure being a part of the Hopkinton Networking Group. It's a diverse group of good people who are truly focused on helping each other land jobs. I wish everyone much success and a speedy landing. 

Remember a job search is a full time job so make sure you put in the time and effort and good things will happen!
