AmeriCorps Farm to School Position in Pocahontas County, WV

County, West Virginia!

High Rocks
Educational Corporation is currently taking applications for an
AmeriCorps position serving farmers and educating students about local
foods in beautiful Pocahontas County, West Virginia. Placed with the
County Nutrition Director, this volunteer will help implement Farm to
School programs, coordinate relationships between farmers and schools,
encourage schools to buy local produce and develop composting systems
for cafeteria scraps. The volunteer will also develop production
oriented school gardens, teach students about the benefits of locally
sourced foods and coordinate field trips to farms.

Full-time
AmeriCorps volunteers receive a monthly living allowance (approx. $1000
per month), health insurance, college loan deferral, and an education
award of $5550 upon completion to use for college or student loans.
Candidates should be at least 18 years old.
