Cambridge, Mass. – GnuBIO, a privately held, Cambridge-based developer of desktop DNA sequencing technology, announced on Wednesday it has been awarded a $4.5 million grant over the next three years through the National Human Genome Research Institute’s (NHGRI) Advanced DNA Sequencing Technology Program. GnuBIO is commercializing an instrument that encompasses all of the steps required for DNA sequencing into a single cartridge. The entire process is all on a single chip, simplifying the complex sample preparation process that has prevented the widespread adoption of DNA sequencing, according to GnuBIO.
