Bedford-based Rapid Micro Raises $2.5M and is Hiring!

Bedford, Mass. -- Rapid Micro Biosystems, a Bedford-based developer of products for the detection of microbial contamination, has raised $2.5 million in convertible debt, the privately held company disclosed in a new regulatory filing. Rapid Micro’ system, commercialized in 2008, detects contamination and provides economic benefits to manufacturers while improving their quality process. In 2009, the company raised $18.6 million in its first round of venture capital. Investors in that deal included Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, TVM Capital, Quaker BioVentures, and VIMAC Milestone Medica Fund.
