Job openings, hires, and separations changed little in August |

There were 3.1 million job openings on the last business day of August, essentially unchanged from July, but up 26 percent from the end of the recession. The hires rate (3.1 percent) and the separations rate (3.0 percent) were essentially unchanged over the month. |
