 Position Responsibilities - Summary:

The Director, Product Management, reporting to the Vice President, Product Management, is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations associated with internal software product management, including coordination of resource planning, release planning, and the creation of detailed specifications needed for development, testing and quality assurance. To manage the

communication of the product resource plans and release schedule.

This role will manage 5 Product Managers located in 3 different locations at this time.

Essential functions and responsibilities of the Director, Product Management shall include:

·         Ensure that technical product managers are working cross-functionally with engineering, user experience, and services

·         Manage the product release planning process to enable the company to plan its development and quality assurance teams

·         Resolve resourcing issues and the communications that are required to resolve

·         Manage the creation of product specifications to meet product requirements, including use scenarios and detailed functional specifications.

·         Support the business evaluation of product changes that require advanced study

·         Provide input to company planning and budgeting exercises

·         Oversee the Product Managers (internal and external) and establish accountabilities and performance objectives within the product management group.

·         Manage the Foreman process that creates release schedules, including prioritization of features and enhancements to products

·         Organize and ensure delivery of training as needed for product managers

·         Participate in team meetings to ensure that the release plans adequately represent the roadmap for software products

Required Skills and Competencies:

·         Minimum of a BA/BS in either a technology or business discipline; MBA a plus

·         5 + years of product management experience in a software firm

·         Experience managing product managers

·         Experience managing people working remote

·         Must have strong business acumen - ability to think beyond the product and to fully understand the market, industry and competitive landscape.

·         Excellent written and oral communication skills

·         Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities

·         Ability to manage multiple projects - work prioritization, planning and task delegation

·         Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results

·         Experience in the energy or utilities sector is a plus
