Boston – Zerto, a Boston-based developer of business continuity and disaster recovery software, announced on Tuesday it has raised $15 million in its second round of venture capital, led by U.S. Venture Partners. Zerto was founded last year by a team of storage industry veterans. Ziv Kedem, the company’s founder and CEO, previously co-founded Kashya, which was acquired by EMC, where he developed storage-based replication software for disaster recovery. Zerto received its initial funding from Battery Ventures and Greylock Partners.

Technical Support Engineer - Greater Boston Area


As a member of our Zerto Engineering Support, you will provide technical support to customers who are working to deploy and maintain Zerto solutions and related tools.


Responsibilities



  • Respond to customer inquiries, primarily by telephone and e-mail, and support portals

  • Resolve customer technical issues through diligent research, reproduction, and troubleshooting demonstrating in depth knowledge and high technical skills

  • Work directly with other technical support staff, quality assurance, engineering, sales, marketing, product management, operations, and administration to resolve problems

  • Installing the product in customers’ environments, both on-site and remotely

  • Maintaining personal relationship with IT managers and other contact persons in key accounts

  • Document all technical inquiries, develop and review content for knowledge base

  • Participate in product release process to ensure the product quality and supportability


Requirements



  • Experience with VMware products and the vSphere family

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent in spoken and written English

  • High level of Service awareness

  • Experience in providing Linux/UNIX and Windows technical support to customers

  • Strong Linux or UNIX administration skills & familiarity with the installation and configuration of Linux or UNIX operating systems & setup and operation of TCP/IP networking on Linux or UNIX systems

  • Good practical working ability with UNIX utilities, including editors and command shells

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience supporting software and hardware

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or equivalent work experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003), plus x86 platforms, devices, and networking

  • May require work in shifts in the future

  • May require travel in and outside the USA


Highly Preferred Skills



  • Experience in working with development organizations in a new product introductions role

  • Knowledge or familiarity of real-life IT environments

  • Experience in administration of SAN environments

  • Technical Certifications (VCP, MCSE, CCNA, etc.)

  • UNIX kernel diagnostics/debugging

Sales Development Representative (SDR) - Greater Boston Area


The Sales Development Representative’s role is to become an expert in generating, prospecting, and qualifying leads for the Zerto Sales team. The SDR will report to the Director of Inside Sales, and will be responsible for meeting quota requirements and milestone based training for career development.
This role is an excellent opportunity to prove yourself at the ground floor of a fast paced sales environment, in an early-stage software company.
Responsibilities Include:



  • React to inbound leads while actively prospecting for new business opportunities through outbound initiatives including cold calling, email, and lead sourcing.

  • High volume prospecting – between 60 and 80 calls per day.

  • Qualifying leads by relating business fit, objectives, and goals to Zerto’s BC/DR solution with hopes of scheduling meeting for Sales team.

  • Meeting quota requirements based on mix of revenue and management by objective (MBO’s) assignments.

  • Working through structured sales training program.

  • Required Qualifications

  • All of the intangibles…self-motivated, driven, high energy, competitive, ability to deal with objections, as well as an attention to detail.

  • A good technical aptitude and genuinely interested in technology.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to be effective in positioning a clear, concise and well-understood message.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, early-stage environment that requires willingness to learn and apply new concepts and strategies quickly.


Desired Qualifications



  • A Bachelors degree is required, preferably in a Business-related program.

  • 1-3 Years sales experience preferably within IT (storage/virtualization/backup).

  • Experience using Salesforce.com CRM.

Sales Engineer – Greater Boston Area


As a member of our Zerto Sales Engineering team, you will provide technical support to qualified prospects who are working to evaluate and potentially deploy Zerto solutions and related tools.
Responsibilities



  • Conduct and facilitate product demonstrations through WebEx

  • Conference calls discussing prospective business fit with Zerto software products

  • General support of sales team from a technical aspect to drive team based selling

  • Installations of software trials and working with the customers and the account executive to ensure that the customer purchases the software following the trial.

  • Support pre & post sales issues including but not limited to:

    • Validating and supporting agreed upon ‘proof of concept’ with prospect

    • Providing written & oral instruction on the usage of the products

    • Recommending best practices for different customer environments

    • Supporting/training Partners and customers

    • Attending trade shows as needed



  • Some on-site customer visits with limited travel (majority of time will be in the Waltham, MA office.)

  • Interacting with Architecture team to ensure the product fills customer requirements and communicate these requirements and findings to the product management team


Requirements



  • Experience with VMware products/infrastructure – particularly the vSphere family

  • Understanding of storage concepts, architecture and storage platforms (i.e. SAN/NAS/DAS)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • The ability to explain technical solutions and concepts to non-technical people

  • Good practical understanding of datacenter architecture

  • Previous experience in a Pre-Sales Engineering position.

  • BA/BS, preferably in a Computer related field

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003), plus x86 platforms, devices, and networking
