Andover, Mass. – TransMedics, an Andover-based medical device company, has raised $5.9 million in venture capital, according to a new filing by the company with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Founded in 1998 to meet the need for better, more effective organ transplant technologies, TransMedics has developed the first commercial, portable warm blood perfusion system that allows for a new type of organ transplant, called a living organ transplant. The company’s SEC filing indicates it plans to raise $22.5 million in its current funding round.
