Sudbury-based Embera NeuroTherapeutics Raises $4.5M

Sudbury, Mass. -- Embera NeuroTherapeutics, a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Sudbury, announced on Monday it has raised $4.5 million in its first round of venture capital. Investors in the deal include Louisiana Ventures, Louisiana Fund I, and Themelios Ventures. Embera is a development-stage pharmaceutical company focused on treating a range of addictions where the major clinical challenge is a limited range of effective drug therapies. The company is developing compounds targeting specific brain functions that drive craving and relapse associated with addictions such as tobacco and cocaine.
