Lexington, Mass. -- Pulmatrix, a Lexington-based biotechnology company, has raised $14 million in its second round of venture capital, which included participation from all the company’s existing venture investors, Polaris Venture Partners, 5AM Ventures, Arch Venture Partners, andNovartis Venture Fund. Founded in 2003, Pulmatrix is a clinical stage biotechnology company developing therapies for the prevention, treatment and control of respiratory diseases. This $14 million in new funding brings the total venture capital raised by Pulmatrix to $60 million. In addition to proceeds from equity financings, Pulmatrix has secured research funding totaling over $10 million, including grants from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the National Institutes of Health.

Analytical Chemist (temporary and will consider part time)


Must learn and comply with safety guidelines and cGMPs/CFRs which includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of training records, laboratory documentation, written procedures, building monitoring systems and laboratory log books.



Duties include:
Attachment.performing routine laboratory procedures;
Attachment.routine analytical testing including HPLC, KF and wet chemistry;
Attachment.analytical method validation and protocol/report writing;
Attachment.documenting, computing, compiling, interpreting and entering data;
Attachment.maintaining and operating specialized equipment;
Attachment.initiating and / or implementing changes in controlled documents.


Skills and attributes:
Attachment.familiar with HPLC,KF, and wet chemistry techniques;
Attachment.must have good documentation skills and report writing skills;
Attachment.have experience in analytical method transfer and validation.;
Attachment.Some experience in method development is preferred.

Education and experience:
BS/BA in Analytical Chemistry with more than 2 years of experience in analytical chemistry in industry.

Biotech Patent Agent/Attorney


We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with Associate Director of IP and Contracts to manage client’s patent and trademark prosecution portfolios (post-filing), and upcoming technology. Assist in evaluating confidential and/or patentable materials, as well as information to present or publish. Also have the ability to be involved with diligence inquiries and potential agreements.



Duties include:
Attachment.draft filings & responses to office actions;
Attachment.patentability & freedom to operate searches;
Attachment.IP liaison to the Research group (biological focus);
Attachment.presenting IP topics to management;
Attachment.assist with docketing & file management;
Attachment.internal training.



Skills and attributes:
Attachment.self motivated;
Attachment.requires minimal direction;
Attachment.able to work cross functionally across an organization;
Attachment.familiarity with patent file histories & third-party contracts;
Attachment.proficiency with MS Office;
Attachment.USPTO’s Public PAIR and patent search engines.

Education and experience:
Ph.D. or M.Sc. in biology or related field with 1+ years in patent prosecution and experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Registration with USPTO as a patent agent/attorney a plus. Law degree advantageous, but not required.

Device and Aerosol Development



We are seeking a highly motivated individual to provide technical and scientific support to the device and aerosol group with specific emphasis on characterization of dry powder aerosols, method development, and dry powder inhaler evaluation.



Duties include:
Attachment.characterization of dry powder inhalers and formulations by relevant laboratory
Attachment.techniques including: laser diffraction, cascade impaction, delivered dose determination,
Attachment.and airflow resistance methods;
Attachment.design, verification and optimization of in-vitro dosing systems;
Attachment.develop new and improved testing methods and instrumentation as required;
Attachment.develop test plans, perform test, analyze test data, evaluate results and propose follow
Attachment.up test plan;
Attachment.write reports, procedures, protocols and presentations.


 



Skills and attributes:
Attachment.detailed knowledge of dry powder aerosol methods;
Attachment.working knowledge of aerosol measurement instrumentation including: laser diffraction, 
Attachment.cascade impaction, delivered dose determination, breathing simulation, and airflow 
Attachment.resistance methods;
Attachment.good analytical laboratory skills;
Attachment.troubleshooting and optimization skills;
Attachment.excellent oral and written communication skills, able to defend own work;
Attachment.ability to analyze data with Microsoft Excel required; working knowledge of JMP, 
Attachment.GraphPad Prism, Labview and Solidworks beneficial;
Attachment.documentation skills and notebook record keeping required.

Education and experience:
BS in Biomedical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with +3-8 years industry experience or MS in Biomedical, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with + 1-5 years industry experience
