Does the Air Seem Stale Around Hiring? Fact is, It is.
The latest Employment Situation news release
(http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf)
was issued today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It showed that the number of jobs created in June stayed the same as the number last year essentially (to be fair, it is +18,000). To the millions of unemployed, that's no relief and certainly not good enough. For key insights into why the economy is stagnant and there are no jobs, read Robert Reich's book Aftershock: The Next Economy and America's Future.
Highlights from the June Jobs Report are below:
Nonfarm payroll employment was essentially unchanged in June (+18,000), and the unemployment rate was little changed at 9.2 percent. Employment in most major private-sector industries changed little over the month. Government employment continued to trend down.
