NYC Summer Meals Outreach Day
Each summer, there are hundreds of sites across the city, in all five boroughs, where kids can go for free meals and they require no paperwork or hassle. Kids 18 and younger just show up and eat. It seems simple, but only a fraction of eligible kids participate. Why? Lack of awareness—they don’t know that these sites exist.
What Can You Do?
Join us for a day of outreach in New York City on Saturday, July 16 where we will be working with partners to distribute postcards and posters publicizing information about summer meals in key locations around the city, such as playgrounds, community centers, and laundromats. We are recruiting volunteers to participate in this effort. Volunteers should have 3-4 hours set aside and a comfort level with public transportation.
