Government Market Segment Manager Needed in DC
Our client company was founded almost 90 years ago, is one of North America’s largest distributors of bearings, power transmission products, hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems, industrial rubber products, safety products, tools, material handling products, and general maintenance products. They stock 3 million SKUs to meet customer needs and have approximately 460 facilities throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. They also provide customized mechanical, fabricated rubber, and fluid power shop services, as well as storeroom management and maintenance training services. They currently have an opportunity for a Government Market Segment Manager. The position will be based in District of Columbia.
Our client is seeking a Government Market Segment Manager for the based in the Washington D.C. market, with a national focus. The Market Segment Manager will cultivate and drive new business development opportunities in the Department of Defense, federal agencies and prime contractor markets. Develop account strategies to drive new revenue, lead customer engagements; find, qualify, capture, and win new federal government business for the company. Your mission will be to work with C-level people within these organizations to secure long-term contracts. They have current contracts with GSA, DOD, DLA and many key Prime Contractors. They are seeking a skilled, senior level associate to further penetrate these markets and bring new business to Applied.
As a Market Segment Manager, you will:
§ Develop Account Strategy designed to drive new revenue
§ Lead customer engagement within the Business Unit.
§ Find, qualify, capture, and win new business.
§ Have responsibility for all aspects of the Business Acquisition Process.
§ Monitor DOD budgets and programs and develop market analysis plans
§ Identify government opportunities; call on existing and potential government accounts.
§ Actively work government accounts in specified target areas by geography or by government market.
§ Pursue major contract programs that lead to successful award.
§ Work closely with government sales and contract manager on bids, solicitations and blanket purchase agreements.
§ Provide sales improvement strategies.
§ Lead networking activities with key industry organization and events
§ Provide competitive updates on a periodic basis and business reports on a monthly basis.
§ Collaborate across the Division, Sector, and Corporation to maximize growth of current and new business
Requirements:
§ 3-5 years of business development to federal government agencies and prime contractor markets
§ Proven success in developing and implementing creative strategies to win proposals/repeat business in the DOD/Federal Agency market
§ Partnering internally and externally to meet/exceed goals & objectives
§ 4+ years’ military experience in the areas of supply, supply chain, procurement, and/or maintenance, depot or arsenal experience. Field grade military office or GS 9-15 experience a plus
§ Excellent presentation (oral & written) skills, strong customer focus, ability to manage change
§ Experience in Navy, Coast Guard and fleet programs is a plus.
§ Comfort level with calling on the C-suite as well as experience uncovering and developing business with senior government officials.
§ Security level clearance a plus
§ Proven success in the government area of developing and winning proposals to the DOD/Federal Agency market (industrial products experience is a plus).
§ Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience; MBA a plus.
