Lexington-based Clean Membranes Raises 1st Round from Morningside Venture

Lexington, Mass. -- Clean Membranes Inc., a Cambridge-based start-up developing a non-fouling membranes for a variety of applications, announce it has raised its first round of venture capital, which was led by Morningside Venture Investments. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Clean Membranes said the investment proceeds will be used primarily to take its technology, which is licensed on an exclusive basis from MIT, from laboratory discovery stage to pre-industrial scale-up level. Potential applications include municipal, wastewater, oil and gas, pharmaceutical and food industry produced waters, seawater desalination, as well as producing potable water from brackish water and many more purification applications, according to the company.
