Thumbs Up: ADP reports employment up 43,000 in October

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Private-sector employment rose 43,000 in October, according to the ADP employment report released Wednesday. Employment in the service-producing sector rose 77,000, while the goods-producing sector fell 34,000. On Friday the government will report nonfarm payrolls for October, and economists polled by MarketWatch are looking for a gain of 70,000, compared with a decline of 95,000 in the prior month. Also, economists expect the unemployment rate to rise to 9.7% from 9.6%.
