Deluxe is currently seeking a talented and innovative Director, Business Product. This role is responsible for product management across a complete category of one of the Small Business product lines.


 


This role manages product associates and specialists and collaborates closely with the key stakeholders in Small Business and functional areas across the company. Responsibilities include all aspects of managing the "4 P's" of marketing, with particular emphasis on product strategy and positioning, new product development, pricing, and investigation/recommendation of new sales, marketing and distribution business models. The position serves as the product line evangelist, providing vision and thought leadership around the product category and motivating the organization to collectively implement the plans for the product.


 


The Director, Business Products manages the P&L and is accountable for achieving annual revenue and profit goals.


 


 


Accountabilities:


 


 


* Lead all product management efforts in the business/tax forms, envelopes, labels, tags, office supplies, healthcare and compliance product/service categories by growth designation and lifecycle, developing sound business strategies focused on the "4-Ps" of marketing. Develop and execute annual marketing plans that deliver revenue, gross margin, and operating income targets.


 


* Analyze performance of the category to identify and prioritize product opportunities and manage threats. Understand market conditions and their impact on the category.


 


* Determine the met and unmet needs of current customers and prospects. Be the company expert in the market and the customer, and advocate for effectively meeting customer needs.


 


* Build knowledge base of competitors; create effective positioning and messaging against competitor products and understand impact of competitor movements.


 


* Lead products through their lifecycle, and develop strategies and feature improvements to maximize product contribution. Develop product exit plans and customer retention strategies when the end of the lifecycle is reached.


 


* Develop new products and services and create business plans to ensure their success. Create solutions to support customer segmentation strategies.


 


* Provide direction for multiple-channel go-to-market strategies. Explore and recommend alternatives for consideration in order to expand product presence and long-term viability.


 


* Apply leadership skills and influence to build a vision for success that energizes key departments across Small Business and company functional areas to accomplish the product vision and achieve annual product goals.


 


* Understand the value and role of the product line within the larger spectrum of company offerings, and use general management expertise to recommend strategies and actions that will have positive impact on the entire business.


 


* May direct work of product associates or specialists; provide leadership and mentoring and supervise work activities as needed.

Education/


 


Experience:


 


 


MBA or equivalent in business or product management plus 5-10 years experience in consumer, small business or retail environment. Experience managing a portfolio of diverse products/services, managing a budget and product line P&L, leading and managing employees and cross-functional teams, and creation of multi-channel go-to-market plans. Experience in direct marketing and e-commerce, as well as thorough understanding of Internet business models and online customer experience. Global or multi-country marketing experience preferred


 


Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:


 


Demonstrated expertise and success in identifying opportunities, writing and executing business plans. A thorough understanding of general management principles and sound business judgment.


 


Proven experience in project management.


 


Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.


 


Strong interpersonal skills to help build relationships and effective teams.


 


Self-motivator/starter, strong leadership skills.


 


Detail oriented, process focused, forward thinking, creative, collaborative, tenacious.


 


Ability to work in ambiguous situations, multi-task and move from one area of focus to another quickly.
