Thumbs Down: DOL Reports August Unemployment Up in 27 States

The latest Regional and State Employment and Unemployment news release

was issued today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Highlights are below.

In August, 27 states registered over-the-month unemployment rate
increases, 13 states recorded decreases, and 10 states and the
District of Columbia had no change. Nonfarm payroll employment
increased in 14 states, and decreased in 36 states and the
District of Columbia.
