Monster removing blocked companies functionality!

I got this message tonight from the folks at Monster.com announcing they're removing the blocked companies functionality.  This tool enabled job seekers to prevent employers that they select (such as their current employers) from viewing their resumes.  As a result, if you make your resume searchable (and you WANT to do that so you can get discovered), you cannot prevent any employer from seeing you.

Employers, on the other hand, can block your resume.  But you don't see Monster removing THAT functionality, do you?

Why would Monster do such a thing?  The easy answer is $$$.  Monster makes all of its money from employers and as a result, who do you think they listen to? Money talks.  They're screwing job seekers.  When they first introduced Monster communities, they allowed job seekers to rate companies they worked at - like JobVault or GlassCeiling.  But they silently removed that functionality - again, guess why?  Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Monster has never done a very good job of giving job seekers the tools they need to get a better job, and again, they're letting job seekers down.

Rule #1 of application development is never take away value.  Looks like Monster is playing like they're #2.

What do you think?  It sure ticks me off.
