(Concord, N.H.) Nanocomp Technologies, a Concord-based developer of energy saving performance materials and component products from nanotubes, announced on Tuesday that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar Phase II contract by the United States Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Under the contract, Nanocomp will advance its CNT-based materials as replacement for metal-based electromagnetic interference shielding and electrostatic discharge components on manned and unmanned aircraft. The company’s research has been officially designated as a “critical SBIR program,” indicating its high level of importance to the government, Nanocomp said.

Position descriptions for our Concord, NH facility:


For all positions US
citizenship is an absolute must.


Electrical Engineer.
The candidate must have either a B.S. or M.S. in
Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience. The applicant is
expected to become a key team member in the development of innovative
electrical products for government, military and commercial markets
working in Nanocomp's fast-paced R&D environment. Primary
responsibilities will be identifying, constructing, and testing new
applications utilizing Nanocomp’s carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets and yarns
conductors as well as lab and project management. Knowledge of
aircraft wiring standards will be helpful. This is a hands-on position.
Project management responsibilities will include direction
of a project team, coordination of external resources, ensuring that
project goals are achieved on schedule, and reporting and documentation
are complete.


Excellent organization skills, attention to
detail and both written and oral communication skills are required. Some
proposal writing experience is desired but not mandatory. The applicant
will report directly to the CTO. U. S.
Citizenship is mandatory

Composites Scientist.
The candidate must have a M.S. or Ph.D.
in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or
related field. Significant experience in the fabrication and property
measurements of advanced composite materials is required. This is an
R&D position. We expect the candidate to lead a team dealing with
the basic science of CNT composites utilizing Nanocomp sheet material,
be familiar with industrial prepregging technologies, have deep
understand of structural property relations in composite materials, and
have experience with a wide variety of resins including toughened
epoxies, polyurethanes, cyanate esters, PEEK and others. Excellent
organizational skills, with an attention to detail, and written and oral
communication skills are vital. Proposal writing experience is also
essential. The applicant will report directly to the CTO. U. S. Citizenship is mandatory.  








 

Thermoelectric Scientist.

The candidate must have a degree in
Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related
field and have at least 5 years experience in the area of
thermoelectric materials and device fabrication. This is an R&D
position that is very hands-on. The candidate will help develop CNT
thermoelectric materials and devices as part of an existing
thermoelectric effort. The successful candidate will work in a
laboratory setting, primarily engaged in: material characterization,
particularly of thermal and electrical properties, chemical treatment of
materials, assembly of materials into a multistage device, and
performance evaluations of the thermoelectric properties of these
devices. This individual reports to the project leader who in turn
reports to the CTO. Excellent organizational skills, with an attention
to detail, and written and oral communication skills are vital. U. S. Citizenship is mandatory.








 

Application Engineer.

The candidate must have a technical
degree, preferably in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics,
Chemistry, or a related field with at least 5 years experience in some
aspect of materials science. This is a hands-on position accountable for
the following tasks:

1) Technical support to selling activities

2) Identify and prioritize application opportunities for
Nanocomp Technologies

3) Ownership for driving pre- and post-sales customer
activities in assigned application market segments

4) Input to standard product requirements process

5) Technical support for proposals, technical reports,
papers, etc.

6) Pre-proposal evaluation/qualification

7) Drive demo capabilities

VP, Business Development. U. S.

Systems
Operator.
Operates CNT textile and yarn production
systems as directed. Must follow standard operating procedures, maintain
production records, and perform quality assurance tests as required by
customers. Must demonstrate initiative and creativity especially in
contributing to NCTI ongoing process improvement program. Candidate is
expected to work independently although the position will receive
direction from a Supervising Operator. Initially the incumbent may
train under and assist an R&D Scientist.








 

R&D Technician. Looking for a bright, well organized technician whose
duties will be to assist in the research, development, and production of
the Company’s carbon nanotubes and nanotube based materials and
component products. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree in a
technical field or equivalent experience; competency with Excel, Word,
and statistics; excellent communications skills and mechanical ability.
Must be able to take direction and yet be able to work with a minimum
of supervision, as well as be a team player and have previous hands-on
laboratory work experience. U. S. Citizenship is mandatory.








 

Student Intern Positions
Available at Nanocomp.
(Junior/Senior
Engineering/Chemistry/Physics Fields). Nanocomp has a limited number of
student positions open for the Winter and Spring semesters at its
Concord, NH facility. Only Junior or Senior (college) candidates will be

human resources manager. Experience in nanotube growth,
characterization is desirable. U. S. Citizenship is mandatory.
