TITLE: Sr Interactive Designer [Interactive] (Boston)
TYPE OF POSITION: AEEF (Union), Full Time, Project Contract (24 weeks)
PROPOSED HIRING SALARY RANGE: $46,613 - $60,000
Department Overview: The Interactive group serves as the Foundation's research, development and production team for new media technologies. We work with the WGBH national production units to produce a multitude of media-rich Web sites supporting our national prime-time and children's television series.
Position Overview: WGBH Interactive seeks a senior level designer to lead the visual, structural and interaction design for MASTERPIECE, PBS flagship drama series. The Senior Interactive Designer works as part of a multidisciplinary team with developers and content producers, under the direction of the Director of Design. Senior Designers are responsible for oversight of design production and provide specifications for the work of Associate Designers and contractors on their projects. Design candidates should possess a graduate degree in interaction or graphic design (or document equivalent academic plus on-the-job training). Prior development of content-rich Web sites from concept to completion is required; familiarity and experience in user-centered development methods such as rapid prototyping and user testing are highly desirable. The ideal candidate is particularly talented in the expressive uses of photography and typography. Design for MASTERPIECE should be gorgeous, smart, and inviting. Requisite skills include visual and typographic design, interaction and information design, and up-to-date expertise in web and multimedia design strategies, tools and technologies. We are a Mac-based production environment and work primarily in Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash.
