Yodle, a New York company focused on local online advertising, said it is looking to hire more than 80 employees for its Boston office over the next six to 12 months.

Yodle's Boston office currently has a head count of 20, a Yodle spokeswoman said.

The Boston recruiting effort is part of a larger national drive to expand the company from 350 employees to about 500, she added.

Rising demand for Yodle's services such as search-engine optimization and search-engine marketing are behind the expansion plans, which follow the completing of a $10 million Series D financing round earlier this year. According to its website, Yodle looks to help businesses such as law firms, dentist offices, and general contractors to promote themselves in sponsored and leading search engines and on local sites. The ultimate goal is to convert consumers into customers.

To help expand its Boston office, Yodle has scheduled a careers open house for the late afternoon of July 22. The open house is set to take place at Yodle's Boston office at 179 Lincoln St. Yodle said it is looking for interactive marketing specialists, interactive marketing assistants, account representatives, and client service managers.
