Clark University seeks an experienced marketing professional to assume the new position of Director of Online Community with responsibilities for the development and implementation of an interactive marketing plan that integrates website, social media, e-mail campaigns, online banner and search advertising with print and face-to-face communications to raise the visibility and perception of Clark University and inspire conversion, connection and community with prospective and current students, parents, alumni and donors.


 


Working in close collaboration with Information Technology Services (ITS), this is a hands-on position with primary responsibility for managing, mentoring and directing the in-house web and social media team to build and enhance Clark’s online presence to meet the marketing goals of the University’s undergraduate and graduate schools, academic departments, research centers and institutes. The Director will also collaborate with Admissions and Advancement to provide brand oversight, strategic and technical support for their online activities: Social media, E-newsletters,


E-mail campaigns, and Blogs.


 


Reporting to the Vice President, the Director will lead and manage an internal staff of 1 web designer and 2 content managers; and is expected to mentor and develop a high-performing team;


direct day-to-day activities; review and approve all work products; manage schedules and budgets; set annual and quarterly goals; conduct annual written performance reviews; source and direct interns, agencies, freelance writers, photographers, videographers, and designers as needed.


 


Requirements include: bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or journalism; 7 – 10 years’ hands-on experience and solid understanding of web design and development, information architecture, multimedia production, and web content management with mastery of Web 2.0 environment and related technologies. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and succinctly with a high degree of relevancy to targeted audiences; highly competent in writing, editing, and creative direction and be a strategic thinker with ability to drive measurable results and manage multiple projects for several key constituencies in a complex, and often demanding, environment. Knowledge of marketing trends and best practices; experience in interactive marketing, social networking and new media a must.
