Director of Operations: Medford, MA

The client is an ISO9001, mechanical manufacturer with a long and  impressive history of profitability.

This Director manages manufacturing which includes multiple value-streams, a functional machining area, Quality, Facilities and Logistics. This manager is responsible for achieving strategy deployment and daily production objectives.  This manager is accountable for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost.  As part of the leadership team, this executive will contribute to the formulation of strategic objectives, provide qualitative and quantitative feedback to determine improvement targets, develop and execute action plans to support goals.  Responsibilities include:

·         Promote an atmosphere of excellence, high sense of urgency, high energy, and exceptional communication within a manufacturing environment

·         Demonstrate a high level of initiative; consistently achieving measurable results by leading the team to ensure that the plant meets or exceeds key operating goals i.​e.​ Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost

·         Establish performance goals related to improving customer satisfaction metrics

·         Lead innovation and change by being an active and visible sponsor and catalyst of purposeful change.​  Maintain a positive attitude to overcome adversity and obstacles

·         Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and drive for personal and team accountability; function as a “Role Model Leader”

·         Motivate and develop others

Direct and indirect reports: 70 employees. 

The minimum credentials to qualify:

• BS degree


• 10+ years proven hands-on, direct  management of manufacturing and distribution including personal  responsibility for site quality, cost, delivery and safety


• Recent experience directly managing machining and mechanical assembly processes


• Impressive track record of continuous improvements resulting in positive impact to the bottom line


• P&L, budgeting and cost control experience including management of the Operations expense goals and capital requirements


• Experience implementing and leading cellular manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S and lean programs


• Significant knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles (belt is an asset)


• ERP expertise


• Proficient with MS Office, Xcel and other Databases

Location:  Medford / Melrose area

Relocation is not an option

Compensation: Into the low 100’s
