The latest Mass Layoffs news release (http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/mslo.pdf) was issued today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Highlights are below.

In the first quarter of 2010, 1,564 extended mass layoff
events resulted in 221,150 separations. Both events and separations decreased
by record amounts from the same period a year earlier, when layoffs and
associated separated workers reached program highs.
