A123 Systems to Expand in Massachusetts, Create 250 Jobs

Watertown, Mass. -- A123 Systems, a
Watertown-based developer of lithium ion battery technology, will locate its
grid power storage division in Massachusetts, where it will create 250 new
jobs, according to an announcement from Gov. Deval Patrick's office.
Founded in 2001, A123 Systems makes lithium ion batteries and battery systems
for the transportation, electric grid and consumer markets. A123 Systems has
added more than 50 corporate and research and development jobs in Massachusetts
in the last year in connection with its expanded electric vehicle battery
manufacturing capacity in Michigan, which was supported by a $249 million
federal stimulus grant.
