Bedford-based Raises $16.5 Million in Venture Capital. Jobs? Coming...

Bedford, Mass. -- MicroCHIPS, a
Bedford-based developer of intelligent surgical implant systems, has raised
$16.5 million in a round of venture capital. Founded in 1999, the company's
technologies are used in the development of in-body devices that can sense
vital biochemical changes, deliver drug therapies, and communicate data using
wireless technologies. MicroCHIPS' said it will use the fund to advance its
lead programs in diabetes and osteoporosis. Investors in the company include
Polaris Venture Partners, Novartis Venture Fund, Flybridge Capital Partners,
Medtronic, Saints Capital, Intersouth Partners, Care Capital, CSK Venture
Capital, and InterWest Partners.
