Thumbs Down and Up: Unemployment Claims Up but more people moving off unemployment

In the week
ending Jan. 9, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was
444,000, an increase of 11,000 from the previous week's revised figure of
433,000. The 4-week moving average was 440,750, a decrease of 9,000 from the
previous week's revised average of 449,750.
