From ResuMark
Have
you been looking for a job during a few months with no results? You
probably think it is a bad economy because you have been doing
everything you could. You are right - it is not the best time for job
seekers. But have you been doing everything you could?
Let's try to understand what you might have done wrong or did not do at all.
1.
Have you created a great resume? It is extremely important to have a
great resume. Only a well-written resume can get you noticed and should
convince an employer to invite you for an interview. And that is
exactly what you need!

2. Have you been networking? If you need a job, let all your friends,
relatives, previous co-workers know about it. Everybody knows someone
who knows someone, so utilize their knowledge and connections as you
look for work.
Additionally,
create accounts on social networking websites like LinkedIn, Twitter
and Facebook if you don't have them already. Many employers and
recruiters use such websites as recruitment resources. You can find

3. Have you been using different ways of sending out your resume? Where do you learn about job openings?
While posting your resume on the most popular websites don't forget
about smaller ones. They have a number of advantages over the big
sites. For many employers it is very expensive to use the major job
boards. They look for candidates using smaller, less expensive job search engines. That is why by placing your resume on the most popular sites you hide it from a large number of employers. Also read about on-line job search mistakes every job seeker should avoid.
Don't
forget to visit company's websites. Some companies place job
opportunities only on their own websites. Additionally, communicate
with people who can help you. HR managers, recruiters and successful
professionals will all be the key resources in discovering new
opportunities. And don't be afraid to try something different: Traditional Job Search Doesn't Work? Why Not Try Something Different!?
4.
Have you been following up? Did you send your resume to an HR Manager
or Recruiter, but never heard back? Have you called a person in your
network, or sent an e-mail and just assumed they didn't want to talk to
you? This is a big mistake. Everyone has a lot of responsibilities,
exhaustive work schedules and many personal commitments. And just
because they aren't calling doesn't mean they aren't interested. We
recommend you to wait for a week or two after sending your resume and
then send a short email. Email is a perfect way to contact a company as
you can remind them that you applied for the job and you can resend
your resume without fear of appearing too insistent.
5. Have you
been sending thank you letter after interviews? Thank you letters are
critical to your job search success. Interview experts agree that every
job hunter must send thank-you notes after every job interview. It is
not only a nice thing to do. It also shows your courtesy and
professionalism. A thank you letter is also a chance to demonstrate you
written communication skills and confirm your understanding of topics
discussed and helps to avoid any misunderstanding.
If you
interviewed with multiple individuals, make sure each thank you letter
is unique. Common language is acceptable, but do not simply change the
name at the top of the letter. Here is some more information on how to
write a thank you note with an example of thank you letter: Increase your chances of getting hired: writing a thank you Letter after job interview
