Ltd. is one of the nation's top designers, manufacturers and
wholesalers of fine stationery, invitation, announcement and holiday
card products. We wholesale our product to over 3,000 retailers
nationwide who carry our personalized stationery or boxed card products

Our sister company, eInvite.com is one of the
nation's leading online purveyors for custom fine stationery,
invitations and announcements. In addition to our own eCommerce site,
www.eInvite.com, we also run the fully outsourced cobranded online
stationery site for over 100 partners, including Costco Wholesale
Clubs, Babies ‘R Us and Toys ‘R Us. We also run OutVite.com, the
nation's leading online fine stationery site for the gay and lesbian
community.

With over 150 employees in our West Boylston, MA
location, we have grown consistently and rapidly over the past 15
years. Recognition for Checkerboard has included placement on Inc.
Magazine's 5000 list of fastest growing private companies in America in
2008 and 2009, Better Business Bureau's Marketplace Ethics Award in
2006 and a seven-time winner of the Louie Awards (the greeting card
industry's equivalent of the Academy Awards).

The Creative
Director has responsibility for the overall creative operation for both
Checkerboard and eInvite. Responsibilities include overall management
of the design and web design departments to include creative direction,
work production and staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Own the aesthetics for all company products


• Create style guide and creative brand positioning


• Develop create specifications for projects


• Lead on creative development of all new product lines

•
Insures the timely development and execution of projects to assure
earnings, growth, and profit goals are achieved. Manage tasks,
schedules, project requests.

• Manage all departmental tasks to include product design, pricing, materials selection, final art, press proofs


• Design review, critiques and feedback


• Oversee web design projects - site redesigns, style guides, site updates and changes


• Provides leadership/motivation and direction to staff


• Accountable for creative quality control of all products

•
Work with internal teams, including Product Management, Marketing,
Manufacturing, eCommerce, Finance, Customer Support, and IT to
seamlessly integrate work across disciplines

• Participate on senior management team

•
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that he/she excels
on both the business side with business expertise and savvy as well as
on the creative side.

Specific Skills

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Familiar with a variety of the design/printing/web field's concepts, practices, and procedures


• Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and QuarkXpress. Familiarity with CSS/HTML


• Demonstrated complete understanding of:

o Color theory
o Typography
o Perspective and space
o Composition

• Knowledge of print production process


• Knowledge of web design and production and experience with website design


• A minimum of 5-8 year leading creative projects


• Experience managing a small staff


• Demonstrated experience leading the creative experience for a brand or product line


• Demonstrated experience as a business functional leader


• Web savvy is a must; familiarity with user experience methodologies a plus
