Job Sites not respecting your resume? You've spent countless number of hours writing and updating your resume. Finally it seems to be perfect and you're ready to send it out. There are a few things you should always keep in mind when looking for a job on-line.

1. Posting your resume without thinking about privacy.

We always put our name, address, phone number and email on resumes. It helps employers to get an idea of where we are located and how to contact us.

The above information is necessary, but there are lot of resumes that include other data such as birthday, marital status, photograph, passport number, tax id, etc. While in certain countries it is common to place photographs on resumes, it is not required in US. We do not recommend to put any sensitive information on your resume.

According to the FBI, identity theft is the top Internet fraud and millions of resumes with names, addresses, and other sensitive information make it easy! Information about identity theft from major job search websites  appears on the news quite often.

Resumark.com takes additional steps to protect customer data. Employers are allowed to preview resumes without seeing your full name, address, and E-mail. After reading the resume, an employer may decide to purchase the candidate's contact information. Resumark.com pre-screens and approves all payments before giving access to the full version of your resume. This approach not only protects your personal data, but also saves money for employers as they only have to pay for the resumes they downloaded.

2. Using only the biggest job search websites.

More and more people are getting frustrated with big job search boards. They've been there for some time and gained the popularity, but many no longer satisfy the requirements. Posting your resume on different job search websites you increase your chances of finding a job.

For employers it also can be very expensive to use the major websites. They look for candidates using smaller, less expensive job search engines. That is why by placing your resume on the most popular sites you hide it from a large number of employers.

3. Posting your resume on hundreds of job boards.

When you are applying for a job you should customize your resume for the specific company and position. If your strategy is to send your resume to as many recruiters and job search sites as possible; it may be viewed as a spam and you'll have fewer chances to be invited to a job interview.

4. Ignoring the basic E-mail etiquette.

Remember to use a professionally looking email address. Usually it contains your first and/or last name. Highly doubt that you'll get a job, if you send an email from "pretty-girl" or "spider-man" accounts.

Don't forget to include subject line in your email and don't write it in all capital letters, which is seen as shouting.

Attach a cover letter with your resume. Here are some tips on how to write a good cover letter: Writing a Cover Letter - Tips and Templates for a Perfect Cover Letter.

5. Not trying to avoid spam filters.

In many cases emails can be identified as spam if you use certain words or phrases (such as free, promotion, marketing, collect, cash, unbelievable). They can also be send to the spam folder if you include big attachments.

6. Applying for a job without meeting the position requirements.

Read the job description carefully and apply only if you meet the requirements. Otherwise, don't waste your own and everybody else's time.

7. Sending out your resume during weekends.

It's not a good time to send out job-search emails on weekends. Hiring managers are getting most of the spam during that time and your email can easily be lost.

Use weekends to search for employers, customize your resume and write cover letters for the selected positions.

8. Ignoring social media websites.

Today almost everyone has accounts on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and other social networking websites that utilize Web 2.0 technology to help you meet  people in your area on interest . Many find jobs by choosing the right communities, groups and actively interacting there.
