WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The White House is looking at extending
portions of the economic-stimulus program but the measures do not
amount to a second stimulus plan, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs
said Monday. Gibbs confirmed that Obama will push Congress to extend a
key first-time $8,000 homebuyer tax credit that expires at the end of
November. Obama will also push to extend jobless benefits and health
care subsidies for unemployed workers. Gibbs said the Obama economic
team was broadly looking at ways to stimulate the economy.
