Mass. -- A123 Systems, a Watertown-based developer of high-power lithium
ion batteries, has disclosed in a filing with the Securities and Exchange
Commission that it intends to price its planned initial public offering of
about 29.5 million shares of common stock at around $8.75. Founded in 2001,
A123Systems'technology is built on a new nanoscale materials initially developed
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Transportation, Electric Grid
Services and Portable Power manufacturers. The company is supplying batteries
for General Motors' electric vehicle, the Volt, planned for release next
year.
