WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The stimulus act signed by President Barack
Obama added a little more than 1 million jobs to the U.S. economy as of
the third quarter of the year, the White House estimated Thursday. The
act also added about 2.3 percentage points to real growth in the second
quarter, the White House's Council of Economic Advisers said in a
report. As of the end of August, $151.4 billion of the original $787
billion stimulus had been spent.
