Afterschool Group Leader Opening



The Oliver W. Holmes School is a small elementary school serving 310 students
located in the Codman Square neighborhood of Dorchester.   The
Achieve! After School Program will provide comprehensive high quality OST
programming for approximately 75 students in the 2009-2010 school year. 
The program strives to support elementary students through academic enrichment
and group activities, allowing them to enhance their academic skills as well as
their self-esteem.  The Achieve! After School Program will hire 2 group
leaders for the upcoming school year.



Position summary:

Reporting to the Afterschool Coordinator, the Group Leader will be
responsible for providing activities for elementary age students 4 days per
week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday). Activities include but are not
limited to homework assistance, academic enrichment, recreational time, arts
and crafts and group games.

Days/Hours:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
September through June
2pm to 6pm

Position Tasks:

• Responsible for 10-13 students.


• Lead students in enrichment activities.

•Support students during homework and academic enrichment on an individual and
group level.

• Provide supervision of students during program hours.


• Prepare material for activities.


• Facilitate dismissal with all staff.


• Perform administrative duties as assigned.


• Participate in scheduled professional development activities.


• Work with providers and staff to ensure quality programming.


• Other tasks as required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required


• Some college coursework in related field preferred


• Experience working with children preferred


• Afterschool program experience preferred


• Strong organizational and leadership skills


• Strong interest and positive attitude toward children required

Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and exhibit a positive
attitude to be an excellent role model to children
