Hello Everyone,
The agenda for this Friday's Hopkinton Networkers Group (HNG) meeting will be enhanced by our speaker, John Decker. The facilitator for this week will be Laura Nelson. We will devote the first hour, from 10 to 11 AM to the following agenda: Welcome, Landings, Announcements, New Member Intros, and Needs & Leads. In the second hour, John will give his presentation on "Getting Through The Door". Here are some remarks from John about his talk:

Getting Through The Door:

"If I could only get through the door, I'm sure I could win the job."
How many times have you thought just that and been frustrated by the gatekeepers who haven't seen how valuable you really could be? This
presentation will focus on some creative approaches to getting past the system and the gatekeepers to the decision makers. It will be highly
interactive with a chance to ask questions about particular situations you are encountering today-be it the web, search firms and employment
agencies, or traditional networking roadblocks.

About the speaker:

John C. Decker is an Executive Vice President with TMI Executive Resources. He has successfully implemented and completed job search campaigns with over 1000 senior level managers, executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs.

John's career spans over 30 years in Human Resources and Career Management and he has developed innovative and effective techniques for managing a job search in today's dynamic marketplace. A senior manager, career consultant, college instructor and the past chairman of several Human Resources management committees, John believes that people can take control of their professional destiny.

Recap of HNG Meeting of July 17, 2009
Our seventh meeting of HNG had 64 people, this is three less than the previous meeting, and 15 of them signed the New Member list. Dell Richmond was our facilitator, and Andrea Haber was the scribe to take notes while the new members gave their introductions. Nine gave their introduction speeches, which included some from previous meetings, and the others will give their speeches at the next meeting.

Rory Cullen was our speaker and he gave a talk on "Personal Branding" which included segments on what branding is, how you can discover your own personal brand, and how you can protect your brand. It is unfortunate we were unable to get the projector to work, for the second time, with Rory's PC; however, he did have handouts for everyone present. We are still in pursuit of resolving the projector issue.

I will send out a reminder for this meeting tomorrow morning with other information and directions.

Regards,
HNG Coordinators:
