Cambridge-based Cerulean Pharma Raises $10 Million in Second Round

Cambridge, Mass. -- Cerulean Pharma, a Cambridge-based biopharmaceutical company, has raised $10 million in its second round of venture capital. Investors in the deal include Polaris Venture Partners, Venrock, Lux Capital and Bessemer Venture Partners. Cerulean said it intends to use the proceeds from the financing to advance the clinical development of IT-101, a compound recently in-licensed from Calando Pharmaceuticals, and to accelerate the preclinical development of nanoparticle-based drugs using Cerulean's nanoparticle-based technology as well as the in-licensed cyclodextrin-based nanoparticle technology.
