Chelmsford-based FRX Polymers Raises $6 Million in First Round

Chelmsford, Mass. - FRX Polymers, a Chelmsford-based maker of environmentally friendly, flame retardant plastics, has raised $6 million in its first round of venture capital, which was co-led by Israel Cleantech Ventures and Capricorn Venture Partners. Founded in 2007, FRX is currently in the commercialization stage for its family of polymers, which the company says are tough, transparent, possess high melt flow, and are inherently flame retardant. Due to their high molecular weight, they do not migrate out of the host plastic when used as flame retardant additives. They also typically improve melt flow and/or mechanical properties, and are environmentally friendly since they do not contain halogens, according to the company.

An exciting opportunity exists in our Flame Retardant group for a period of approximately 3 months. We hope to have this vacancy filled ASAP. The candidate will be a part of a collaborative team focusing on cutting edge research. They will gain valuable industrial experience over a very short period of time to further enhance their resume.

• Familiar with the Chemical Laboratory settings and procedures.


• Good Laboratory skills.


• Regulatory and safety compliant.


• Provide technical assistance and support in the purification of raw materials by vacuum distillation.


• Knowledge- experienced in vacuum distillation.


• Will work under the supervision of a senior chemist


• Hours are from 4:00PM to 12:00AM - with some need to be flexible.
