Collections Manager: Malden, MA

SUMMARY:

Position is responsible for managing the North American credit and collection function in Malden and Brampton.     

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead 7 person credit and collection team split between Toronto and US (company headquartered in US).


2. Oversee credit limit review process for customers.


3. Handle letters of credit and trade insurance for international customers.  Interface regularly with credit insurance agency (Euler) regarding insurance on international receivables.


4. Work closely with corporate logistics function to ensure international order fulfillment and collections efforts work in concert.


5. Interface regularly with business unit heads and regional sales managers to resolve collection issues.  Work closely with major customers on dispute resolution and to resolve credit and administrative issues.


6. Develop reporting to keep management abreast of collection efforts and performance in comparison to forecast.  Develop and maintain metrics to track effectiveness of collections team.  Forecast collections and project cash flows from collection effort.  Satisfy receivables-related bank reporting requirements for asset based revolving credit facility.


7. Work directly with attorneys and collection agencies to collect on past due accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE

10 to 15 years experience in the field, particularly international, with a progressive experience in management, preferably in distribution companies with international exposure.  Experience handling large company accounts and small business accounts.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS/PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

Strong leadership skills and the ability to motive staff.   Highest integrity and professionalism.  Can interact effectively with management, sales folks and customers.  Self starter.  Able to manage detail, to multi-task and prioritize.  Strong organizational skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must be proficient at Microsoft Office products, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).  Knowledge of ERP-type systems is required and experience with Navision is preferred.
