Nokia's services encompass five areas: Music, Games, Media, Social Location
and Messaging. The Services division also encompasses several sub-units:
People and Places, Services Platforms, Service Experience, and Strategy &
New Business.

Services works closely with the marketing and sales functions to create
maximum consumer awareness and top line growth of the services.

Key Responsibility Areas/Activities:

Internet service platform development engineer for Service Platform R&D
organization 
Participates in service functional specification, design, and feature
integration with other services 
Works closely with team members and management to ensure that business
strategic objectives are met with the proposed architectural solutions 
Writes and maintains service application code, frameworks, libraries, APIs
and documentation 
Helps define test plans and documentation in conjunction with QA analysts 


Individual Requirements:

Typical candidate has 6-9 years relevant internet service development
experience. Key contributor or recognized specialist in many or all of the
following areas desired:

Domain expert in server-side J2EE development with proven experience writing
software for scalable, fault tolerant systems serving 100 million plus
unique monthly visitors. Thorough understanding of Java 5+ development
standards (annotations, generics, etc) a must. 
Experience in creating and integrating with SOAP/REST based web services
with JAX-*, Restlet, AXIS or related frameworks. Knowledge of ATOM, JSON,
RSS, GDATA, Microformats, etc protocol formats a plus. 
Excellent data design skills, particularly in
clustered/sharded/rack/replicated/distributed system/parallel processing
environments. Understands scale, efficiency, and stability of data
constraints in the manipulation of large amounts (50 TB+) of data.
Familiarity with Hadoop/Pig/HBase and MapReduce/Sawzall/Bigtable desirable,
RDF and OWL exposure a big plus. 
Deep experience and understanding of application and data caching
techniques. Exposure to CDNs (Akamai, Limelight, VitalStream, etc), ESI, etc
a plus. 
Understands I18N and L10N issues, particularly for multibyte languages
(Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Japanese, Russian, etc) 
Excellent understanding of Agile development methods, particularly SCRUM and
Test Driven Development. Proven ability to work in distributed teams
desirable. 
Prior experience building platform/service technologies a plus 
B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or related technical field (M.S./PH.D a plus) 
Excellent verbal and written English communications skills
