From recent training at the Lowell CC, we were referred to the recent book Me2.0 by Dan Schawbel (ISBN-13:978-1-4277-9820-6) While this book is targeted mostly to 20-somethings, a message was clear - you need to figure out how to effectively "Brand" yourself - so you will clearly stand out over all the other candidates applying for a job of interest. Your unique Brand is intended to make you stand out.

In May I attended an FEI event with a presentation of a new personal website template offering. These website tools allow almost anyone to create his/her own site fairly quickly - with little to no previous experience in HTML or JAVA.
So I developed a brand for myself, putting it down on the pages of my own site.http://www.visitmyid.com/PeetRapp/index.html

I have found this a great tool when I am having a phone interview, where I can refer the interviewer to supporting pages or attachments on this site as I am providing an answer. Also this URL is now prominently placed on my outgoing resumes. I also affix it into the standardized web based job application forms such as from TALIO, which is used by many major employers.

The web tool itself comes from http://www.careerbrander.com/

This is a new service, with the founder located in the Boston area. He is willing to make a presentation of this offering to the Acton Networking group.
