US Census In Maine Looking For Workers In Gardiner, ME
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) -
The U.S. Census Bureau is opening an office in Gardiner, Maine, this fall and plans to hire up to 1,000 people.
Patrick Burke of the state's census operations, said the Gardiner
location marks the first time the census has had an office in central
Maine. That one and another office in Bangor will open in October, the
Kennebec Journal reported.
Burke said the jobs pay $13.25 an hour. People will be hired based on test results and work 20 to 35 hours a week.
Recruiting will start in the fall with most hiring happening in the spring of 2010.
