I am writing in the hope that I might solicit your counsel
in our searches for three specialized professional development coaches for the
UPCS Institute for College-Readiness, a joint initiative between Jobs for the
Future, Clark University and the University Park Campus School, which is funded
by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  The UPCS Institute for
College-Readiness provides training programs for school leaders and
instructional coaches based on the leadership and instructional model of the
University Park Campus School (UPCS), one of the few schools in the nation that
has closed the achievement gap and graduated all students college-ready,
regardless of their incoming skill level.

All three Training Specialists will report to the Managing
Director of the UPCS Institute for College Readiness and will be based in
Worcester, MA.

The Instructional Coaching Training Specialist for
Alternative Education
will lead and deliver the UPCS Institute
Instructional Coaching Program in alternative schools, training instructional
coaches to deliver workshops on using the six instructional strategies to
support all students to achieve college readiness and to work one-on-one with
teachers to improve their pedagogy. Jobs for the Future seeks a seasoned
teacher and professional developer with experience in alternative education
settings to deliver instructional coaching training in a range of alternative
high school and GED program settings.

The Instructional Coaching Training Specialist will
lead the development and deployment of training for instructional coaches to
facilitate structured workshops, support effective lesson planning and
curriculum development and to work one-on-one with teachers to improve their
pedagogy and support all students to achieve college-readiness. Jobs for the
Future seeks a seasoned teacher and professional developer with a track-record
of success improving the academic achievement and college-going rate of
students historically underrepresented in higher education to help design and
deliver this program to a growing client base of small school and alternative
school developers.

The Leadership Training Specialist will assist in the
overall development of a high-impact professional development program for
leaders of new small secondary schools based on successful instructional and
culture building practices of UPCS.  Jobs for the Future seeks a seasoned
teacher and professional developer with a track record of success leading an
urban secondary school and a passion for improving the college-going rate for
students historically underrepresented in higher education. This person should
also have knowledge of the research on best practice in school leadership and
instruction and experience developing training materials and delivering
professional development to adult learners.

We are seeking candidates with a profound commitment to educational
excellence and equality for all students, significant experience working in
settings focused on preparing underserved students to the highest academic
standards, and a commitment to a standards-based approach to engaging all
students in a rigorous college preparatory curriculum. A successful record as a
school coach or professional developer and a strong base of knowledge and
experience implementing best practices in instruction are essential.  Five
years of successful teaching experience and a demonstrated record of
achievement for diverse learners is required.

More information about the UPCS Institute for College
Readiness can be found at www.upcsinstitute.org, and more information about Jobs for
the Future can be found at www.jff.org.

If you have any thoughts about the search, nominations for
potential candidates, or additional contacts we could be reaching out to in
identifying outstanding candidates, could you please contact me at your
convenience?

Thank you, in advance, for your time and I look forward to
hearing from you!

Sincerely,

Alison Falk
