USAJOBS: Improving Federal Recruitment

As many of you know, I was the chief architect behind the
re-engineering of USAJOBS - the award-winning official job site for the
US Federal Government, and drove innovation to help make it one of the
best job sites on the planet.  Although I no longer manage the program,
the USAJOBS team is hard at work improving the hiring process.  In June
we launched 2 key technologies that will significantly help with the
hiring process.

  1. USAJOBS Search 2.0
Code-named Search 2.0, this new functionality allows you to navigate to jobs.  Check it out  The goal was to make it easier to see where the Federal jobs are and to be able to navigate to them more easily.  Bill Bradbury,
Monster's designer extraordinaire, designed the functionality so that
it's smart and keeps track of where you are as you navigate deeper.
Find the jobs you want, then sort by salary to find the highest paying
    ones.

  2. Application Status Updates
    One of the greatest complaints
I heard in my years managing the USAJOBS program was, "USAJOBS is
great, it's the hiring process that stinks."  To address this, the
USAJOBS team launched the ability for job seekers to receive proactive notification
when your application status changes.  I know what you're thinking -
"That's useless because recruiters don't update the status."  And
you're right.  Until now.  With the new changes, recruiters receive an
email when their postings close, and again 15, 30, and 45 days later
reminding them to update applicant status.  Currently, recruiters may
opt out from receiving these messages, but my bet is that it will help
    transform Federal recruiting.

    Important NOTE:  Notification of
the status of your applications can be viewed in your USAJOBS
Application Status tab.  BUT, to receive email notification you need to
enable it by clicking the Notification Settings tab at the top of the Applications tab window.
