Volunteer (unpaid) Grant Writer with United Planet

United Planet is searching for a Grant Writer to volunteer from 3-6
months at our office in Boston for 20-40 hours per week. As recognized
by CNN, United Planet is a highly innovative international non-profit
organization dedicated to fostering cross-cultural understanding and
addressing shared global challenges in order to unite the world in a
community beyond borders.

Responsibilities:


• Assist in the development of strategy and implementation for organizational development.


• Develop partnerships with new organizations, companies and
foundations, through business networking. This will include researching
foundation and corporate giving interests and history in order to
identify new funding opportunities.


• Work with the Executive Director and Development Director in creating sustained initiatives toward development.

• Create proposals that reflect the values and needs of United
Planet and are tailored to fit those of the designated foundations.

Requirements:


Candidates should have demonstrated success in obtaining government or
and foundation grants, be able to prepare background materials for
solicitation, conduct research, prepare continuation funding
applications, manage multiple deadlines, and possess superior writing
and organizational skills. The Grant Writer must work well
independently and collaboratively.

Other Qualifications:


• An understanding of and commitment to United Planet's efforts in fostering cross-cultural understanding.


• Self-starter, able to stimulate and grow this area of United Planet's Development program.


• Bachelor's Degree or one year or more of experience in grant writing
for non-profits, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.

• Excellent writing, critical thinking, and organizational skills
with the ability to multi-task and meet internal and external
deadlines.


• Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to function effectively in our team-oriented environment.


• General understanding of database systems.
